Lessons I've Learned from On-line Dating

Last updated: 5/6/08

This section is a work in progress. I'm trying to figure out just what to do with it, but some folks who have read these works seem to feel that maybe it could be worthy of a book some day. So I'm formulating just how to put it together.

In summary, I started dating again in 2002 or 2003 or thereabouts. Being the computer geekette that I am, I turned to the Internet to hunt for Mr. Right. I've met plenty of Mr. Leftovers, a few Mr. Wrongs, several Mr. Weirds, one or two Mr. Medication-neededs, and even a handful of Mr. Smellies, but so far no Mr. Right.

I am also trying to be cautious of walking too close to the line of libel. So I make the following disclaimers:

  • Names have been changed.
  • Places visited, movies seen, and references to current events have been changed or removed wherever possible.
  • I can assure you that every one of these events was inspired by a true event, but I am doing my best to alter it enough so as not to invite a lawsuit.

And a special note to all the gents who've gone before . . . thanks for teaching me the meaning of the word a-MUSE-ing.

Without further blabbering . . .

Oh wait, one more blabbering. As this is a work in progress, the numbers of the lessons will change around some. Some invite more discussion than others, and some are more important than others. For now, they are in no special order.

OK, now without further blabbering . . .

I present the one, the only . . .

1. Always carry a clutch purse. That way you'll have something to clutch when his hand reaches for yours.
This lesson occurred to me one evening as I was trapped in a three hour long movie, seated next to a guy who thought that my agreement to go to a movie after the dinner was a sure sign that my hand was lonely.
